If
you lease your phones from us or pay inside wire maintenence, call
our business office for repairs.
If
you own your phones and do not pay inside wire maintenence, please
note the following information.
Before
calling our office, try to locate the problem. you may avoid
unnecessary charges. If you report a problem, requiring a trip by
our serviceman, and the problem is found to be in your phone or
inside wire, you will be charged $35.00 in addition to material used
for repair and time incurred at a rate of $50.00 per hour.
If
there is no dial tone, check to see that all phones are on the hook.
If there is noise or interferance on the line and you own answering
machines, electronic phones, or portable phones, unplug them one at
a time to see if the problem will go away. If your phone is modular
(phone plugs in jack), unplug the phone and then plug in a phone
that you know works. If the problem disappears, the problem may be
in the first phone. Our service department may be able to repair the
phone. Please call for further information.
If
the problem doesn't seem to be in the phone, plug your phone into
the test jack, which is inside your protector box. The protector box
is usually located on the outside of the building. If you have no
test jack, take the phone to a neighbor's and try it in a phone
jack. If the phone works at the test jack or the neighbors, the
trouble may be in the inside wiring of the building or your phone
jack(s). Inside wiring will deteriorate with age or may be damaged
by remodeling.
If
the phone does not ring and it has a ring selector, check to seethat
it is turned on. If none of the proceedures above take care of the
problem, call our office and we will be glad to help you find the
problem and fix it.
